BURN-IN Exhibition: Moving Nature | Longing and Desire for the Primordial

About the Exhibition

BURN-IN presented in March 2017 as part of the exhibition Moving Nature and the Longing for the Primordial 32 works by Isabelle Habegger and Josefine Bleich in Vienna.

Background: In their depictions of nature, the two artists have devoted themselves entirely to the annual theme of INTUITION AND EMOTION.

The call to ‘RETURN TO NATURE’ by the writer and philosopher JEAN-JACQUES ROUSSEAU had already influenced many scholars in the 18th century and sparked subsequent counter-movements to industrialisation. Even today, nature is a trend that ranges from numerous organic supermarkets to a fascination with urban gardening and the exodus of young families from the city.

In modern leisure culture, the urge to get outdoors is creating a new relationship between humans and nature, transforming nature into a fascinating subject. You can see the fascination with capturing, reducing and transforming nature into a work of art in the works of Josefine Blaich and Isabelle Habegger. Both have previously taken part in exhibitions at the BURN-IN Gallery.
