About the Exhibition
BURN-IN presents Isabelle Habegger in the solo exhibition Bewusstes.Unconscious in Vienna, showcasing an impressive 22 works (7 sculptures and 15 paintings) by the artist.
Background. The terms ‘conscious’ and ‘unconscious’ immediately bring to mind Sigmund Freud’s depth psychology, which posits unconscious mental processes that lie in the ‘depths’ of the human psyche and motivate human behaviour. Artists’ approaches to their work often involve a method that is, on the one hand, intellectually driven and, on the other, emotional. In most cases, the conscious and the unconscious cannot be separated in the creation of works of art. However, one or the other tends to predominate in the work of every artist.
