Hearts for Children in Need

“These hearts do the people who look at them a world of good,” says Abbot Urban Federer, 53. The open-air exhibition ‘Heart Beats’ is currently on display in the square in front of his monastery in Einsiedeln, Canton of Schwyz, featuring 60 colourful heart sculptures created by Swiss artists.
The organisers of the exhibition: Claudia Knie, 54, and Carolina Caroli, 49.  From the start of May, the hearts will be on display first in Rapperswil (SG), then in St. Gallen, Lucerne and Ascona (TI). Some of them will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the artists and, above all, to the Swiss Charity Chain. Claudia Knie: “This will support children and young people in Switzerland who are in need.”

This is the second time Isabelle Habegger has taken part in the Heartbeats Swiss Tour. Around 60 heart sculptures created by Swiss artists are travelling across Switzerland, combining art in public spaces with social engagement. A significant portion of the proceeds from the auctions is channelled via Swiss Solidarity to children and young people in need.

For the 2022 tour, Isabelle Habegger has created the large golden heart “HANAMI”, inspired by her experiences on a formative trip to Japan. Delicate white and pink cherry blossoms set against a golden background. The Japanese cherry blossom thus becomes a symbol of beauty, transience and the preciousness of the moment.

With the smaller piece “La Colombe de Paix”, Habegger sends out another message – for peace and a mindful, sustainable approach to our planet.

Her “Heart of Peace” from last year also returns in 2022: following the great success of the original work, it will once again be auctioned off for a good cause in a smaller edition.
